Building civil society through Information and Communication Technology
AFIG Funds is a proud sponsor of TechCamp, a program under Secretary Clinton’s Civil Society (CS) 2.0 initiative – an effort to galvanize the technology community to assist Civil Society organizations across the globe by providing capabilities, resources and assistance to enable them to harness the latest ICT advances to build their digital capacity. TechCamp Dakar, which took place in Dakar, Senegal, on August 30-31, 2012, was the first event of its kind in Sub-Saharan Africa.
As part of its corporate social responsibility efforts, AFIG Funds provided a cash grant to the USAID/ERA program, winner of the TechCamp competition organized by the US State Department in Dakar. USAID/ERA used the grant to purchase computer equipment for GIE Jiribalut, a women’s cooperatives specializing in local food processing in Casamance.
